A rainy Halloween is expected across Eastern Ontario, including the Quinte, Lanark and Leeds and Grenville areas.

Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings across several parts of eastern Ontario, with a long period of steady rain expected from the morning of Thursday, Oct. 30 through the evening of Friday, Oct. 31.

The warnings cover areas including Brockville–Prescott, Belleville–Quinte West–Eastern Northumberland County, and Smiths Falls–Perth–Eastern Lanark County.

Forecasters say 40 to 70 millimetres of rain are expected, with locally higher amounts possible. The heaviest rain is expected to fall from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning as a low-pressure system moves across the region.

Officials warn that water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas, leading to possible travel delays. Drivers are urged not to attempt to cross flooded roadways and to allow extra time for travel.

Residents are encouraged to monitor conditions closely and check for local flood advisories. For up-to-date information about flooding, visit Ontario.ca/floods or contact your local Conservation Authority or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
