Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation announces $4.1M milestone in MRI campaign

During a special event on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation (PSFDHF) says its fundraising campaign to support MRI services at the local hospital has reached a major milestone, with $4.1 million raised toward its $6.1 million goal.
The announcement was made during the foundation’s sold-out Black Tie Bingo event last weekend, where foundation chair Kristine Fair told attendees the community’s generosity has pushed the campaign within $2 million of completion.
“This achievement reflects the generosity and dedication of our community,” Fair said. “Every donation directly impacts patient care, and we are deeply grateful for the continued support helping us move closer to our goal.”
According to a release from PSFDHF, the hospital’s MRI unit arrived in November 2023 and has since provided more than 4,000 scans, reducing the need for patients to travel to Ottawa or Kingston for diagnostic imaging. PSFDHF officials say the equipment has helped speed up diagnoses and improve continuity of care for residents across Lanark, Leeds and Grenville.
However, growing demand prompted the hospital to expand its MRI services since 2023. Breast imaging was added this year following mammograms, and as of Oct. 16, 2025, the machine now operates 16 hours per day—doubling its original schedule.
The foundation says the remaining $2 million will help support the full cost of the MRI project, including equipment, installation and necessary upgrades.
