The Town of Carleton Place has provided its weekly construction update, giving residents an idea of what to look out for and areas to avoid over the coming week.

The Town reminds residents that weather, staffing and the availability of materials can affect the construction schedule. Work expected in the coming week includes:

Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant expansions

Concrete continues to be poured for the wet well at the new headworks building at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Preparation of the base for the new Rotary Drum Thickener building will begin. At the Water Treatment Plant, the new watermains will be tested and chlorinated ahead of connection work next week.

Captain A. Roy Brown Boulevard extension and McEachen Drive construction

Crews are continuing with road construction and the installation of utilities.

Findlay Avenue Pumping Station

A natural gas road crossing is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. Findlay Avenue will be closed while this work takes place, and detours will be in effect.

Industrial Avenue Pumping Station

The roof will be installed on the new control building, followed by the placement of instrumentation pads.

Princess Street Pumping Station

Concrete pads for the new natural gas generator and gas meter will be poured. Roofing work has been completed.

For everyone’s safety, the Town and its contractors ask residents to use alternate routes whenever possible to avoid active construction zones. If that’s not possible, drivers are urged to slow down and follow the instructions of flaggers and posted signage.

Anyone with questions about these projects can contact the Public Works Office at 613-257-2253.
