A multi-vehicle collision that closed County Road 29 at the intersection of Kitley South Elmsley Townline Road, south of Smiths Falls, has resulted in the death of one person involved.

Officers were called just after 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, after a three-vehicle collision was reported.

“I can confirm that one person died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision,” the OPP’s media relations officer Bill Dickson told Brockvilleist.

A 61-year-old local woman, one of the drivers involved, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other drivers suffered minor or no injuries.

Members of the OPP East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team, including technical collision investigators and a reconstructionist, are assisting with the case.

The road was closed for several hours and has since reopened. Police say the investigation remains active.
