As dry conditions continue to affect parts of the region heading into the winter months, the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is asking residents to report low water issues through a newly launched watershed survey.

The survey — which takes about five minutes to complete — invites residents to share basic details such as their name, location, and observations about any low water impacts. According to a release from the Town of Carleton Place, respondents can provide a brief overview or include more detailed descriptions, depending on their comfort level.

While the survey is being released late in the season, officials say it remains important for residents to participate, even if their well or property conditions have since improved since the dry summer and fall.

“This data will help deepen our understanding of prolonged drought conditions and groundwater impacts as we move through the winter months,” MVCA said in their advisory.

Town officials say they have continued to hear significant concern about dry and low-water wells from residents preparing for the colder months. As a result, a community information session is being organized for affected households on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Katherine Watson, a representative from the South Nation Conservation Authority will attend the meeting on behalf of regional conservation authorities to help answer questions and provide guidance.
