Seniors invited to help shape new community gatherings in Perth

The Town of Perth is looking for local seniors interested in helping design a new series of neighbourhood social gatherings aimed at building connection among older adults.
The Seniors Neighbourhood Social Gatherings will bring residents together to meet neighbours, share resources and offer input on what seniors in the community need. To support the project, the Town is creating a Seniors Neighbourhood Social Planning Team that will help guide the program.
“Strong communities are built on connection, and seniors play a vital role in shaping the heart of Perth,” Mayor Judy Brown said. “These neighbourhood gatherings help reduce isolation, strengthen social bonds, and ensure seniors’ voices continue to guide the future of our community.”
Volunteers will be asked to suggest activities, help with event planning and promotion, offer insight into seniors’ priorities and provide input on accessible locations. The planning team will work with staff to build welcoming and meaningful social opportunities across Perth.
“This initiative is about listening directly to seniors and creating welcoming spaces where relationships and support can grow. The Town is excited to work alongside seniors who want to help shape meaningful, inclusive, and accessible social opportunities across Perth,” said Cathy McNally.
Seniors who want to take part can contact the Town’s Seniors’ Pop-Up Social Coordinator, Ashley Hannigan, by December 17.
