Smiths Falls marks completion of new water tower project

Smiths Falls has officially opened its new water tower, marking a major upgrade to the community’s water system.
The project was supported through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program’s Green Infrastructure stream. The federal government contributed $2 million and the Province of Ontario provided $1,666,500 toward construction.
The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program is part of a broader national plan that helps communities improve water quality, protect the environment and upgrade essential services.
The new tower is designed to improve water pressure across Smiths Falls, support future development and strengthen emergency water supply and fire protection.
Mayor Shawn Pankow said the project highlights the value of collaboration among municipal, provincial and federal governments, and shows how these partnerships help build long-term community resilience.
The Town thanked residents for their patience throughout construction. Further updates on infrastructure work will be shared as projects continue.
