Carleton Place Youth Centre shares holiday appeal to support local kids and teens

December is traditionally the season of giving and the Carleton Place Youth Centre is urging residents to give back to the local community by supporting programs that provide local children and teens with a safe place to learn, connect and grow.
For more than 25 years, the centre has offered free after-school drop-ins, mentorship, leadership development, healthy snacks and a range of creative and recreational programs for youth aged 8 to 18. According to a release from the town of Carleton Place, staff say rising operating costs are putting pressure on the centre’s ability to maintain its services, which many families rely on throughout the year.
“As costs increase, community support is more important than ever,” the Centre said in a statement. “Holiday donations help ensure youth continue to have a safe, positive space where they feel seen, supported and valued.”
Funding from the community directly supports daily snacks and meals, art and wellness programming, recreation opportunities and the guidance provided by trained staff and mentors, according to the release. Officials say even small contributions will make a tangible difference in the experiences and opportunities available to young people in Carleton Place.
“Every contribution helps build a strong, connected and caring community,” the centre said.
The organization is accepting donations online through CanadaHelps or by e-transfer to cpyouthcenter@gmail.com. Tax receipts are available for gifts over $20, with donors asked to email their name and mailing information to receive one.
