Mississippi Mills rolls out new, ‘enhanced’ recycling program for 2026

As of the start of 2026, Mississippi Mills has transitioned to what the municipality is referring to as an enhanced recycling program, allowing residents to recycle more materials than before.

While collection days will remain the same, the schedule for recycling materials is changing under the new program.

To help residents adjust, the municipality says that during the weeks of Jan. 4 to 10 and Jan. 11 to 17, both recycling streams: paper and fibre, and containers, can be placed at the curb for collection on the same day. After this transition period, the Circular Materials collection schedule will come into effect.

Residents are encouraged to download the 2026 Recycling Guide and the full collection calendar for details on the new program.

Questions or concerns about recycling collection should be directed to Miller Waste at 1-888-852-2374 or by email at Area2@millerwaste.ca.

The municipality is also reminding residents that recycling services have not been municipally run since July 2023. Recycling is now managed by Circular Materials under Ontario’s extended producer responsibility model, which places responsibility on producers to manage the recycling of the packaging and paper they create.
