Up to 25 cm of snow expected for the Lanark County area Wednesday night and into Thursday

Environment Canada is warning of significant snowfall across much of southern Ontario, including the Lanark area, beginning Wednesday night and continuing into Thursday evening.
The national weather agency says 15 to 25 centimetres of snow is expected, with periods of reduced visibility due to heavy snow and local blowing snow.
The snowfall will begin overnight and persist through Thursday, tapering off Thursday night. Environment Canada says a developing low-pressure system is responsible for the storm, bringing widespread snow to the region.
A sharp drop in temperatures is expected by Thursday morning, with cold wind chills developing while snowfall is ongoing. The combination of snow, wind and falling temperatures is expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
Environment Canada warns the storm may have a significant impact on morning and evening rush hour traffic on Thursday, particularly as road conditions deteriorate quickly.
Drivers are being urged to prepare for rapidly changing conditions, slow down and allow extra time for travel.
Residents are advised to continue monitoring forecasts and weather alerts issued by Environment Canada. Reports of severe weather can be emailed to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or shared on X using the hashtag #ONStorm.
