Lanark OPP has charged a Tay Valley Township resident on Wednesday with drug-impaired driving following an incident in Almonte.

Police say paramedics contacted OPP just after 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 21, after two people were found unresponsive in a vehicle parked in front of a business. Before officers arrived, the male and female apparently regained consciousness and left the area.

A short time later, officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.

As a result of the investigation, James Henry, 43, has been charged with operation while impaired by drugs. This charge has not been proven in court.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026.

The suspect’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
