After a very long winter season, spring is finally around the corner. Just in time for planting season, Home Hospice North Lanark’s (HHNL) popular annual tree fundraiser is back for 2026. The fundraiser offers Lanark residents a meaningful way to beautify their properties while supporting compassionate hospice care close to home.

Serving the community since 2012, HHNL’s tree campaign has become a cornerstone local fundraiser since 2015. Over the past decade, thousands of trees have been planted across the region — from Carleton Place and Almonte to Westport and Fitzroy Harbour, according to a release from the Town of Carleton Place.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly towards helping individuals and families across North Lanark receive compassionate care during life’s most difficult moments.

According to town officials, the fruit trees in particular carry special symbolism in relation to this cause. “Fruit trees symbolize care and hope and are often planted to mark new beginnings,” HHNL shared.

This year’s fruit tree lineup includes newport plum, two varieties of crabapple (dolgo and profusion), three pear varieties including golden spice, flemish beauty and early gold. There are also three apple varieties this year — ambrosia, honeycrisp and royal gala.

For those with smaller lots or looking to add shade, available options include Armstrong Maple, Birch, Red Oak and Skybound Mountain Ash.

According to town officials, all trees are locally sourced from a trusted commercial nursery, where they are carefully shaped and pruned to promote long-term health and resilience before being delivered to Reid Gardens in Carleton Place each spring.

Due to the continued support of the local business, each tree or shrub purchase includes a complimentary 30-litre bag of 3-Way Planting Mix and a packet of Root Rescue (mycorrhizae) to help ensure your tree gets off to strongest and healthiest start possible.

Trees and shrubs will be available for pickup in April 2026 at Reid Gardens, located at 140 Pick Road in Carleton Place, next to the Garden Centre.
