SEPH developing strategic plan, pausing branch office closures

A special meeting of the Southeast Public Health (SEPH) Board of Health was held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, in Kingston, to begin work on a strategic plan.
The local health unit noted that the Board “remains committed to leading the work of strengthening public health across the entire southeast region.” According to a release from SEPH, a motion was passed at the meeting to engage a third-party consultant to begin work on a strategic plan and to help develop a clear vision for the future.
The Board also passed a resolution that places a pause on further implementation of the Rural Services Delivery Strategy, as well as all branch office closures, until the strategic plan is approved, according to SEPH.
“Our communities can be proud of this Board, and confident in their skills and expertise, as well as their professionalism, compassion, and dedication,” said Board Chair Nathan Townend.
“Together, the Board is moving forward to deliver on its strong commitment to the success of the merger, and the strengthening of public health in our region.”
According to the release, the next meeting of the Board of Health is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026.
