Lanark County to host public forums on 10-year housing and homelessness plan

Residents across Lanark County are being invited to share their thoughts on the future of housing and homelessness services as the county begins updating its long-term strategy.

County officials are holding two public consultation sessions this week to gather feedback that will help shape the region’s new 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan.

The first session is scheduled for this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carleton Place Arena in Bob Rintoul Hall. A second session will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2026 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Smiths Falls Youth Arena Hall.

In a post to social media, Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry said all residents are welcome to attend the sessions and contribute their ideas about how the county can better address housing challenges in the coming decade.

The forums will give community members an opportunity to discuss concerns, share perspectives and hear from others about the housing needs facing the region.

Input gathered during the sessions will help inform the development of the county’s updated housing and homelessness plan, which guides how services and programs are delivered across the area, according to Lowry.
