Carleton Place hospital foundation celebrates 32 years of supporting local health care

The Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation (CPDMHF) is celebrating 32 years of community service, including decades of fundraising efforts that have helped shape and sustain local health care.
Founded in 1994 to help bridge funding gaps in Ontario’s hospital system, the CPDMHF has spent more than three decades connecting donors with the evolving needs of the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital. Through a series of fundraising and community initiatives, the foundation ensures patients in the region can access modern care close to home, according to a release from the Town of Carleton Place.
“This achievement has been made possible by an incredibly generous and extraordinarily caring community of supporters,” said Executive Director Robyn Arseneau .
Many don’t know that while hospitals in Ontario receive government funding for core services, many essential elements of patient care — including medical equipment, technology and facility upgrades — rely heavily on donations. Projects such as the hospital’s new renovated emergency department, as well as diagnostic tools and patient care equipment, have been made possible through community fundraising efforts.
“While hospitals in Ontario receive funding for core services, it is community generosity that enables investment in the equipment, technology, and spaces that shape the patient experience,” said Brad Harrington, president and CEO of the Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA).
“The CPDMH Foundation represents the very best of community partnership in healthcare,” said Michel Vermette, Chair of the MRHA Allied Boards of Directors. “On behalf of the Allied Boards, we extend our deep appreciation to the Foundation and to every donor and supporter who has made this work possible.”
As it celebrates its 32nd anniversary, the foundation says it is looking ahead to future opportunities to expand its impact and continue supporting high-quality care for generations to come.
