Mississippi Mills shares spring 2026 leaf and yard waste collection schedule

After a long winter, residents in Mississippi Mills can begin preparing their properties for a full spring cleanup, as the municipality rolls out its annual curbside leaf and yard waste collection next month.
According to a release from the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, crews will collect organic yard materials across different areas of the community on designated days over a three-day period, aligning with regular garbage collection schedules.
Collection begins on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 on the west side of Almonte, followed by rural hamlets and subdivisions on Wednesday, May 20. This will include Appleton, Blakeney, Clayton, and Pakenham. Collection will wrap up Thursday, May 21 on the east side of Almonte, along with several residential subdivisions including Whitetail Ride, Greystone/Stonehome Crescent.
Municipal officials note that the spring curbside pickup will be limited to these areas, however, residents outside the collection zones are encouraged to bring their yard waste to the following designated depots:
- Beckwith Transfer Station – 9271 Cavanagh Road, Carleton Place (fees may apply). Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Howie Road Depot – 1470 Howie Road, Carp (May 2 to November 7, 2026). Hours of operation: Wednesday, 3 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Pakenham Depot – 580 Barr Side Road, Pakenham. Hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Accepted materials include leaves, grass clippings, brush, pumpkins, garden waste, tree trimmings, and house plants. Branches and clippings must be bundled and tied with string for easy handling, and unbundled brush will not be collected.
The municipality is also reiterating that certain materials will not be accepted, including kitchen waste, soil, sod, garbage, metal, and large tree limbs that exceed a diameter in excess of 50mm.
Officials also clarified that the Patterson Street leaf and yard waste depot in Carleton Place is not available for Mississippi Mills residents, as it is reserved for Carleton Place use only.
