Pedestrian path near St. Gregory’s School in Carleton Place closed this week for construction work

A key pedestrian pathway connecting Dulmage Crescent to St. Gregory’s Catholic School will be temporarily closed as construction begins on a planned school addition, according to a notice from the Town of Carleton Place.
The closure, which takes effect this week, is intended to ensure the safety of students and residents as work gets underway on the project. Town officials say a designated detour route has been established, directing pedestrians to use Townline Road to access the school.
In coordination with the County of Lanark, the town has also installed protective safety barriers and clear signage along the detour route to help guide students and other pedestrians safely to and from the area before and after school hours.
The pathway, described as a “vital link” within the neighbourhood, will be fully reopened once construction on the school addition is complete. In the meantime, town officials are asking for patience and cooperation from the community during the closure, adding that the project will support key improvements to local school infrastructure.
Residents seeking more information about the construction timeline or detour arrangements are encouraged to contact the municipal office or the school administration.
