Carleton Place Freecycle Weekend returns June 5-7

Treasure hunters, bargain seekers and environmentally conscious shoppers will once again have the chance to give unwanted items a second life as Carleton Place prepares for the return of its Freecycle Weekend from June 5 to 7.

Organized by the Carleton Place Environmental Advisory Committee (CPEAC), the annual community-wide initiative encourages residents to place reusable household items at the curb for others to take free of charge.

To participate, residents are asked to clearly label giveaway items with a “FREE” sign and place them at the curb outside their homes beginning Friday, June 5. Participants are reminded to avoid confusion by keeping non-free items away from the curb during the weekend.

The CPEAC say the event offers residents an opportunity to declutter their homes, save money and discover second-hand treasures throughout the community, all while helping to reduce landfill waste while promoting reuse and sustainability.

Residents are encouraged to explore neighbourhoods throughout the weekend to browse available items but to remain mindful of avoiding unnecessary vehicle idling during stops. Any items remaining at the curb after 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, must be brought back inside by residents, as the town will not collect leftover materials.
