Towns across Lanark County are recognizing June 2026 as Seniors Month with events and initiatives celebrating the older adults in our communities — including a large community expo coming to Carleton Place next week.

In a release issued earlier this week, the Town of Perth proclaimed June 2026 as Seniors Month, joining municipalities across Ontario in recognizing the role seniors play as volunteers, mentors, caregivers, and community leaders.

Perth Mayor Judy Brown said the proclamation is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments and ongoing contributions seniors make to communities across the region.

The proclamation also acknowledges the importance of seniors’ health and well-being to the overall strength and vitality of the community.

At the regular meeting of Carleton Place Town Council on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Mayor Toby Randall also acknowledged several dates of significance, including proclaiming June 2026 as Seniors Month.

As a way to celebrate and connect seniors in Lanark County, Home Hospice North Lanark and the Town of Carleton Place are partnering to host a 55+ Expo event with a focus on healthy, independent living.

The free event will take place on Thursday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carleton Place Arena, located at 75 Neelin St.

According to the Town of Carleton Place, the expo is designed to help older adults access information, services and resources that will support active and connected lifestyles while aging. There will be more than 50 businesses and organizations participating to offer information on health, wellness, community supports, recreation and independent living services.

Attendees will also receive complimentary swag bags (while supplies last), and free coffee from Dark & Deadly Cafe will be available between 10 a.m. and noon, according to town officials.
