Carleton Place releases latest construction update for roads and infrastructure projects

Residents in Carleton Place can expect continued roadwork, construction activity and temporary traffic disruptions across several areas of town next week as multiple infrastructure projects move forward.
The Town of Carleton Place released a construction update on Friday, May 29, 2026, outlining the following ongoing and upcoming projects affecting roads, public works facilities and access to the municipal boat launch.
At the Public Works Yard located at 97 Franklin St., demolition of the existing salt shed is scheduled to begin next week as crews prepare for the construction of a new salt and sand storage structure.
Road reconstruction work will also continue on Lake Avenue West between O’Donovan Drive and the boat launch area, where crews are removing existing asphalt and replacing granular materials. Similar work is continuing on Frank Street between Emily Street and the Mississippi River.
Meanwhile, grinding operations are expected to begin late next week on James Street, Joseph Street and Wellington Street as part of planned asphalt overlay work.
The affected sections of town include:
- James Street from Townline Road to Bell Street
- Joseph Street from Townline Road to High Street
- Wellington Street from Queen Street to Park Avenue
Town officials say concrete repairs will follow the grinding work in preparation for new asphalt paving.

In addition to road work, access to the municipal boat launch parking lot on Lake Avenue West will be limited over the next three weeks while Thomas Cavanagh Construction Company Ltd continues work between O’Donovan Drive and Boundary Road.
While the boat launch itself will remain open, residents may experience temporary delays or disruptions during daytime construction operations.
Town officials said construction crews will work to accommodate access whenever possible but residents are being encouraged to avoid active construction zones where possible and to use alternate routes to help reduce traffic congestion and improve safety for workers and motorists.
Residents with questions or concerns regarding any of these projects should call Public Works at (613) 257-2253.
