Menzie Street in Almonte to close for two weeks as childcare facility construction advances

Residents and motorists in Almonte should be prepared for temporary disruptions later this month as Menzie Street undergoes a full closure to support construction work for the Municipality of Mississippi Mills’ new childcare facility.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the municipality announced that Menzie Street will be fully closed from June 8 to June 21, 2026, while crews construct parking areas and sidewalks for the new Mississippi Mills Childcare Services building, which is expected to increase access to childcare spaces and provide enhanced infrastructure to support growing community demand.
During the closure, the street will be completely inaccessible to both vehicles and pedestrians.
Municipal officials say detour and closure signage will be installed throughout the area to help direct traffic and ensure public safety while the work is underway.
In their public notice, the municipality thanked residents in advance for their cooperation as the construction progresses.
