‘Busking for Everyone:’ Carleton Place performer aims to raise $10k to help stock local food bank

Residents can enjoy live music outdoors while helping families in need this summer as local musician Andrew Jahn continues his campaign to raise $10,000 for The Hunger Stop through a series of community busking performances.
Through a series of performances over recent months in downtown Carleton Place, Jahn and a group of friends have rallied together to raise $6,702.50, which is nearly 70 per cent of their total fundraising goal. According to a release from the Town of Carleton Place, the $10,000 will help the Lanark County Food Bank (The Hunger Stop) purchase two months’ worth of essential ingredients to feed the growing number of residents relying on its services.
The Hunger Stop provides five days’ worth of food each month to individuals and families throughout Lanark County. Unlike many organizations, the food bank relies entirely on public donations to operate and does not receive government funding.
According to town officials, this fundraiser could not come at a better time as food banks across the region continue to face growing demand while grappling with rising grocery prices.
Beginning on Saturday, July 4, 2026, Jahn will perform outside the Carleton Place Visitor Centre at 170 Bridge St. every other Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
The family-friendly “Busking for Everyone” performances will see 100 per cent of funds raised donated directly to The Hunger Stop until they reach the campaign’s $10,000 target.
By reaching the $10,000 goal, the food bank would allow the food bank to purchase approximately two months’ worth of milk and eggs, two staple items that are among the most requested but also among the most expensive to purchase and keep stocked.
The outdoor performances will offer residents an opportunity to encourage local musicians while helping ensure neighbours facing food insecurity have access to fresh, nutritious meals.
Community members who are unable to attend the performances but wish to still support the campaign can donate online and are asked to include the phrase “Something for Everyone” with their donation to ensure it is credited toward Jahn’s initiative.
