Carleton Place provides latest construction update as summer projects continue across town

As we move into July, road reconstruction and infrastructure improvements continue across Carleton Place, with several projects nearing completion while others are just ramping up.

The Town of Carleton Place released its latest weekly construction update on Thursday, July 2, 2026, outlining progress on multiple road and municipal infrastructure projects, including paving, watermain replacements and upgrades to the Public Works Yard on Franklin Street.

Several major road projects have now reached substantial completion.

Construction on Lake Avenue West, between O’Donovan Drive and the boat launch, has wrapped up, with only landscaping finishing work scheduled for September.

Roadwork has also been completed on James Street between Townline Road and Bell Street, and on Joseph Street, between Townline Road and High Street, where landscaping is likewise expected to take place later this year.

Meanwhile, construction continues on Napoleon Street between Wilson Street and Woodward Street, where watermain removal and replacement began June 29 and is expected to continue until July 17.

On Sarah Street, construction crews are undergoing work on two separate sections.

Between Lake Avenue and Woodward Street, roadway removals and granular replacement are underway and will continue into next week. Further west, between Arthur Street and Morris Street, roadway removals and reinstatement work will continue through to July 7.

Town officials are asking residents to avoid active construction areas whenever possible to help improve safety and reduce traffic delays. Motorists travelling through construction zones are reminded to slow down, pay attention to posted signage and follow directions from flag crews.

The Public Works Department also noted that projected construction schedules remain subject to change due to weather conditions and staffing levels.
