A Mississippi Mills resident is facing 29 criminal charges in connection with a series of thefts from vehicles in the township.

Lanark OPP say officers first received reports of the thefts from unattended vehicles on Tuesday, July 7.

After an investigation, Dustin Amos, 28, of Mississippi Mills was charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 – three counts
  • Attempt to commit theft under $5000 – four counts
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Trespass by night – seven counts
  • Failure to comply with a probation order – 14 counts

Charges have not been proven in court.

The accused was arrested on Thursday, July 9, and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth for a bail hearing.

“The OPP would like to remind the public to ensure all unattended vehicles are locked and that valuables are removed or placed out of sight to deter property-related crimes,” the July 10 media release concludes.
