Construction season remains in full swing in Carleton Place, with several infrastructure projects and road upgrades progressing across the community throughout the month.

In a notice issued on Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Town of Carleton Place released its latest construction update, outlining work residents can expect over the coming weeks so motorists can plan ahead and avoid active construction zones whenever possible.

At the Public Works Yard on Franklin Street, crews have completed the foundations for the town’s new salt shed and five-bay garage. The next phase of the project will include backfilling the foundations and restoring the surrounding parking lot with new granular material but no timeline for this work has been established.

Several road rehabilitation projects are also moving into new phases.

On Frank Street, between Emily Street and the Mississippi River, road reconstruction has been completed. However, driveway reinstatements and final paving are expected to take place in early August.

Construction is also underway on two sections of Sarah Street, where crews are carrying out ongoing road reconstruction and concrete replacement between Lake Avenue and Woodward Street, as well as between Arthur Street and Morris Street.

On Napoleon Street, crews are continuing to commission the new watermain, with work expected to continue until July 28. Road reconstruction will commence once the watermain is fully operational, according to the release.

Looking ahead, two additional projects are expected to get underway during the week of July 27. Roadway removals and concrete work are scheduled to begin on College Street, between Victoria Street and Bridge Street, while roadway removals will also begin at the Rosamond Street OVRT crossing.

The town noted that landscaping restoration on completed projects will be postponed until September to give new sod, trees and plantings a better chance of surviving after the intense summer heat.

Town officials are asking residents to use alternate routes whenever possible to reduce congestion around active work sites. Motorists travelling through construction areas are reminded to slow down, obey posted signage and follow the directions of flag crews to help keep both workers and drivers safe.

Residents with questions about ongoing construction projects can contact the Town of Carleton Place Public Works Department at 613-257-2253.
