Drivers urged to expect delays in some areas as construction continues in Carleton Place

The Town of Carleton Place is advising residents of ongoing construction work and municipal projects taking place as road, watermain and infrastructure improvements continue through the coming weeks.
According to the town’s latest construction update issued on Friday, July 24, 2026, progress is being made on multiple projects, although officials note that weather, staffing levels and material availability could affect projected timelines.
As work on the new Public Works Yard on Franklin Street continues, town officials shared that foundations for both buildings have been backfilled and crews are placing granular material for the floors.
On Frank Street, between Emily Street and the Mississippi River, road construction has now been completed. Driveway reinstatements and final paving are scheduled for early August.
Road construction and concrete replacement are ongoing on two sections of Sarah Street between Lake Avenue and Woodward Street, and between Arthur Street and Morris Street.
Watermain commissioning work will be taking place on Napoleon Street between Wilson and Woodward streets until July 28. Town officials note that once that work is complete, road construction is expected to begin.
Meanwhile, crews will continue roadway removals and concrete work on College Street between Victoria and Bridge streets over the next week and roadway removals at the Rosamond Street OVRT crossing are scheduled to begin on July 31.
The town clarified that landscaping restoration on completed streets will be delayed until September to avoid the effects of summer heat.
The town is encouraging residents to use alternate routes whenever possible, reduce their speed and follow the directions of flag crews and posted signage in active construction areas.
Anyone with questions about the projects can contact the Town of Carleton Place Public Works Department at 613-257-2253.
