The Town of Carleton Place has secured $200,000 in provincial funding to replace the aging elevator at the Carleton Place Arena, a move officials hope will improve accessibility and ensure continued access to one of the community’s most popular recreation facilities.

The funding was announced through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant program, which supports upgrades to community infrastructure across the province.

According to a release from the Town of Carleton Place issued on Tuesday, July 27, 2026, the OTF invested nearly $107 million in 746 projects supporting community infrastructure, recreation, youth development, health and environmental sustainability over the 2025-26 funding year.

The new elevator will be installed at the arena, located at 75 Neelin St., with construction expected to begin this summer.

“I’m proud to support the funding received for this vital upgrade to the Carleton Place Arena,” Lanark–Frontenac–Kingston MPP John Jordan said in a statement. “This Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital grant will help to ensure continued safe access for spectators and participants of all ages and abilities so that everyone can join in the impressive calendar of sporting events and social gatherings at this important community hub.”

Mayor Toby Randell echoed Jordan’s sentiment, saying the arena serves as an important gathering place for residents and visitors in Carleton Place..

“By modernizing this facility with enhanced accessibility, we are removing physical barriers and ensuring that every single member of our community can fully and equally participate in our town’s civic and social life,” Randall shared.

The project is scheduled for completion by February 2027.

The town said a formal grant recognition event will be held following the start of construction, with details to be announced at a future date.
