Almonte’s Paterson Street improvements and intersection upgrades to begin next week

Submitted map

Construction work aimed at improving pedestrian safety and accessibility will begin next week on a section of Paterson Street in Almonte.

According to a release issued by the Municipality of Mississippi Mills on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Aug. 4, on Paterson Street between Ottawa Street and Tatra Street.

The project, being completed by GOA Paving, will include the installation of raised crosswalks, construction of a raised intersection at Tatra Street, a raised pedestrian crossover at the Paterson Street and Tatra Street intersection, storm sewer improvements and sidewalk extensions.

Municipal officials say the infrastructure upgrades are intended to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility along the corridor while also addressing drainage needs. Construction is expected to continue throughout August, with completion anticipated by the end of the month, depending on weather.

The municipality noted that residents directly affected by the project will receive construction notices before work begins and temporary construction and traffic signs will be installed throughout the work zone in advance.

Motorists should expect temporary traffic disruptions during the project as a detour will be in place during paving operations to safely redirect vehicles around the construction area.

Residents seeking more information can contact the municipality’s Roads and Public Works Department at 613-256-2064 or PW@mississippimills.ca.
