Several road and infrastructure projects will continue across Carleton Place next week, with crews making steady progress on everything from road resurfacing to the Town’s new salt storage facility.

At the Public Works Yard on Franklin Street, construction of the new salt shed continues to move forward. According to an update from the Town of Carleton Place issued on Friday, August 14, 2026, the trusses and main tarp have now been installed, and crews will turn their attention to complete the end walls before beginning electrical work inside the building.

On Frank Street, between Emily Street and the Mississippi River, crews will continue driveway preparations next week. Landscaping on the completed section is scheduled for late September, when cooler weather will provide better growing conditions.

Town officials say roadwork is also advancing on Napoleon Street, where the base layer of asphalt is being installed today. Concrete work is expected to wrap up next week, with the final layer of asphalt planned for Sept. 1.

Along both sections of Sarah Street, from Lake Avenue to Woodward Street and from Arthur Street to Morris Street, crews are continuing concrete removals and reinstatements while preparing driveways for paving. The final asphalt surface is also expected to be laid on Sept. 1.

Meanwhile, on College Street between Victoria and Bridge streets, concrete reinstatement work is expected early next week, with asphalt paving scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20.

Residents are encouraged to avoid active construction zones whenever possible. Those travelling through work areas are asked to slow down, obey posted signs and follow directions from flag crews. Weather, staffing levels and material availability may potentially affect construction schedules.

Anyone with questions about the projects can contact the Public Works Department at 613-257-2253.
