A Carleton Place nail salon has been cleared to reopen after Southeast Public Health identified an infection prevention and control lapse and ordered corrective measures.

In a release issued on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Southeast Public Health (SEPH) advised anyone who received manicure, pedicure or waxing services at Galleria Nails, Spa & Eyelashes, located at 438 McNeely Ave., between July 4, 2023 and Aug. 12, 2026, to consult a health-care provider about whether testing for hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV is appropriate.

Public health officials stressed that no blood-borne infections have been linked to the salon.

According to the lapse report issued originally on August 12, 2026, the IPAC lapses are as follows:

  • Single use items not discarded immediately after each client and being reused on different clients.
  • Inadequate reprocessing (cleaning and disinfection) of re-usable manicure, pedicure and waxing equipment between clients.

As a result, the health unit immediately closed the premises, which could not re-open unless a re-inspection has been completed and it has been approved. According to the report, the business was also ordered to “develop a formal written standard operating procedures for staff regarding the cleaning and disinfection and infection prevention and control including a plan on how you will train the staff to ensure client safety,” which must also be approved by health unit officials before reopening.

According to their Aug. 18 update, the SEPH said the salon has since taken immediate corrective action and now meets the infection prevention and control standards required to operate safely.

In a statement posted to social media, Anbee Phương Oanh of Galleria Nails, Spa & Eyelashes directly addressed the public health advisory, saying the past few days have been “very difficult for our team.”

“The concerns identified have been fully addressed, and we have taken immediate steps to strengthen our cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention procedures,” the statement reads.

Phương Oanh explained that the salon has since thoroughly cleaned and reorganized, reviewed and strengthened its infection prevention and disinfection protocols, purchased the required supplies and re-trained all staff on proper procedures.

“Public Health has since returned to inspect our salon, and we have been cleared to reopen,” Phương Oanh reiterated.

The salon also apologized to clients, saying it understands the concern the notice may have caused.

“We truly care about our clients and put our hearts into what we do every day,” the statement reads. “We are committed to doing our very best to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone.”
