Carleton Place hazardous household waste seasonal depot closes Sept. 5

Carleton Place residents have just a few weeks left to dispose of household hazardous waste before the community’s seasonal depot closes for the year.
In a release issued on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the Town of Carleton Place announced that the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Depot will close for the 2026 season at noon on Saturday, Sept. 5, and will reopen again in May 2027.
To help avoid long wait times on the final day, residents are encouraged to bring hazardous household materials to the depot in advance during one of the preceding Saturdays, with operating hours from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The depot accepts a wide range of household hazardous materials that cannot be safely disposed of in regular garbage, including paints and stains, gasoline and diesel fuel, used motor oil, antifreeze, propane tanks, rechargeable and single-use batteries, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, pesticides, pool chemicals, solvents, fire extinguishers and other hazardous products.
Town officials are reiterating that service is available only to residents of Carleton Place, Beckwith, Mississippi Mills, Smiths Falls, Drummond/North Elmsley, Perth and Montague.
Residents looking for a complete list of accepted materials can visit the Town of Carleton Place website before making a trip to the depot.
