Annual Warden’s Golf Tournament raises more than $13,500 for new children’s recreation program in Lanark County

Residents, municipal officials, and golf enthusiasts were swinging for a good cause at the 2026 Lanark County Warden’s Golf Tournament earlier this month, raising more than $13,000 for local children’s programming.
Held on Aug. 14, 2026 at Timber Run Golf Club, the annual tournament welcomed 138 golfers and raised approximately $13,515 for the newly established ‘Active Kids, Bright Futures’ initiative, a new program aimed at enabling children from all backgrounds to participate in sports, arts and other community activities.
According to a release issued by the Town of Carleton Place earlier this week, the program was proposed by Lanark County Warden Richard Kidd and subsequently approved by county council. ‘Active Kids, Bright Futures’ will be administered through Lanark County Social Services, giving caseworkers a flexible tool to helping parents support their children and teenagers by enrolling them in extracurricular activities.
According to town officials, families can complete a simple application with support from a caseworker, and eligible households would be able to access up to $500 per child per year to participate in activities such as football, soccer, baseball, dance, Girl Guides, music lessons, art classes, and more.
“We know that when children have the opportunity to take part in community and structured activities it can have a significant positive effect in their lives,” Kidd shared.
Warden Kidd credited the strong turnout from local golfers and sponsors for the event’s success, with title sponsors including Cavanagh Construction, Vice and Hunter LLP, Partham Engineering, The Graham-Dixon Group, and BMO Nesbitt Burns.
“l sincerely thank everyone who helped to make the 2026 Warden’s Golf Tournament a big success,” Kidd said. “We had a great turnout of golfers, and special thanks goes to all of the sponsors. Your generosity is helping to make recreational programs in the community more accessible for kids who otherwise would be unable to take part.”
