As summer draws to a close, several road reconstruction projects in Carleton Place are entering their final stages, with paving and landscaping work continuing across projects throughout the coming week, according to an update provided by the Town of Carleton Place on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026.

At the Public Works Yard, 97 Franklin St., crews continue excavation, grading and base preparation for the new five-bay garage. Asphalt paving is scheduled to take place next week and structural steel is expected to arrive in early September.

Landscaping work is expected to wrap up over the next week on Lake Avenue West, between O’Donovan Drive and the boat launch, and on Frank Street, between Emily Street and the Mississippi River.

Before the colder months arrive, several street reconstruction projects are also nearing completion with crews preparing to lay the final layer of asphalt.

The top lift of asphalt is expected to be completed today on Napoleon Street between Wilson and Woodward streets and on Sarah Street between Arthur and Morris streets. Town officials noted that landscaping work is already underway on both projects.

On Sarah Street, between Lake Avenue and Woodward Street and on College Street, between Victoria and Bridge streets, where the top lift of asphalt is expected to be completed Sept. 8 on both projects, with landscaping continuing in the meantime.

The Town is encouraging motorists to avoid active construction zones whenever possible and to slow down, obey posted signage and follow directions from flag crews to help ensure the safety of workers and the public.

Residents with questions about ongoing projects can contact the Public Works Department at 613-257-2253.
