A community fundraising effort inspired by one man’s personal experience with food insecurity has raised more than $12,000 and collected dozens of pounds of food for the Lanark County Food Bank (LCFB) -The Hunger Stop.

As previously reported, Andrew Jahn’s summer fundraising initiative included a series of public musical performances outside the Carleton Place Tourism Centre, dubbed Busking for Everyone, as well as a six-day business matching campaign that generated over $2,000.

Jahn’s ‘Something for Everyone’ concert series wrapped up on Aug. 29, 2026 with a final performance at Almonte United Church, bringing the campaign’s total to $12,186 along with 55 pounds of donated food for The Hunger Stop.

The concert series was created to bring people together through music while supporting neighbours facing food insecurity, a goal Jahn believes was achieved.

According to Jahn, the funds raised will have an immediate impact within the community. One donation of $10,000 is enough to cover approximately two months’ worth of milk and eggs to supply the food bank’s kitchen.

As students returned to classrooms this week, Jahn said now is the perfect time to remind the community that 38 per cent of The Hunger Stop’s clients are children.

While speaking with the Lanarkist, Jahn credited the community’s support as well as sponsors for helping the fundraiser surpass its original goal.

“The best part about finishing this project was seeing how the community came together in the final four weeks,” he recalled. “There were several local businesses, council members, churches, the mayor of Almonte and a handful of individuals from Toronto and Ottawa all coming together.”

The musician said it was heartwarming and inspiring to see people from all walks of life come together for a singular cause. “Handing over that cheque was a special moment for everyone involved.”

Reflecting on the journey, Jahn hopes his fundraiser has done more for the community than simply providing financial support.

“My intent is that this shared experience will inspire people to keep giving and that individuals in our community who are struggling will experience hope after seeing how much the community cares,” he told Lanarkist. “Food insecurity can be a very isolating experience, but now people are more aware of what’s happening in our community.”

As previously reported by Lanarkist, Jahn once relied on the LCFB while attending university and struggling financially, making the opportunity to give back especially meaningful and deeply personal.

“Finishing the fundraiser was a full-circle moment for me,” he shared. “I was a recipient of Lanark County Food Bank services when I was a struggling university student. Going back and handing over that cheque was a moment of closure and healing for me.”

Following the success of this year’s campaign, Jahn plans to make ‘Something for Everyone’ an annual event.

He said he’s already begun planning next summer’s fundraiser, which he intends will continue supporting the Lanark County Food Bank as it prepares to move into a new, larger location.
