Who’s running for mayor and council in Smiths Falls’ 2026 municipal election? Here’s what you need to know
Municipal elections will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, in communities across Ontario, including Smiths Falls.
At the Friday, Aug. 21, 2 p.m. nomination deadline, 18 candidates had put their names forward for mayor and council.
Three candidates are competing for mayor: Nate Morris, Christopher G. Cummings and Peter McKenna. Another 15 candidates are seeking six council positions.
Smiths Falls elects its councillors at large, meaning voters across the town choose from the same list of council candidates.
Lanarkist has published profiles of Morris and Cummings, which are linked below. A full profile of McKenna will be published once an interview can be arranged.
Each councillor candidate will be posed the same five questions, and their answers will be linked here as we receive them.
When available, candidates’ contact details and links to campaign websites and social media pages have also been included.
