Voter Information letters for the 2026 municipal election will soon be arriving in Mississippi Mills mailboxes in October, but not every eligible voter will receive one.

Election Day is fast approaching on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026 with online and telephone voting available during an eight-day voting period beginning Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. and ending Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.

In an update provided on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the municipality says Voter Information Letters will only be sent to eligible electors in Ramsay Ward and supporters of the French Public School Board (Conseil des Écoles Publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario), as positions in the other municipal and school board races have already been acclaimed.

The municipality is reminding residents that not receiving a letter is expected in those cases and does not necessarily mean there is a problem with their voter eligibility.

The Voter Information Letter will contain a personalized PIN that eligible voters will use to cast their ballot by phone or through an internet-connected device. There will be no paper ballots in the 2026 Mississippi Mills election.

The municipality says voters who believe they are eligible but have still not received a letter by mid-October should contact election staff via email at elections@mississippimills.ca or via phone at 613-256-2064, with a toll-free number available at 1-888-391-9463.

A Voter Information Letter is not required to vote if a resident is eligible. The municipality says voters can visit a Voter Help Centre with proof of identity and residency to receive assistance.

Voter Help Centres will be available at Almonte Old Town Hall, Stewart Community Centre in Pakenham and the municipal office on Old Perth Road. The municipal office will offer assistance throughout the voting period, while the two community locations will be open on Election Day.

The 2026 election will determine Mississippi Mills’ Ramsay ward councillors; the positions for mayor, deputy mayor and Pakenham Ward councillors have been acclaimed; it will also determine trustees for the municipality’s four school boards. The new council’s four-year term begins Nov. 15, 2026.

Residents with questions about the election or their eligibility to vote can contact the municipality’s elections team or visit the Mississippi Mills elections page for more information.
