Carleton Place to mark National Forest Week with tree planting in Bridge Street

Carleton Place will mark National Forest Week next week with a green-lit landmark and its annual National Tree Day planting.
This year, National Forest Week will run from Sept. 20 to 26, and Central Bridge on Bridge Street is set to be illuminated with green lights in recognition of the week.
According to town officials, this year’s theme, “Forest Pathways: Innovation and Sustainability,” highlights the importance of forests to Canada’s culture, history and future, while encouraging greater recognition of forests as a valuable and renewable resource.
Members of the Town’s Urban Forest/River Corridor Advisory Committee, Carleton Place Town Council and Town staff will gather together to take part in the annual tree planting at McNeely Park on Alexander Street on Sept. 23. The planting is scheduled for 10 a.m., and all residents are welcome to attend.
