Ontario Provincial Police are reporting intermittent 911 outages across the province and are advising people who need an emergency police response to call an alternative number.

Police issued the notice at about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17.

Anyone requiring emergency assistance from the OPP should call the force’s non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122, which police say remains fully operational.

“OPP members continue to respond to calls for service despite the temporary outage,” the notice reads.

Police urge residents not to call 911 for information or updates, or to test whether the service is working.

“The OPP is working with service providers to expedite the restoration of 9-1-1 service. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available,” the notice concludes.
