Lanark County Paramedic Service to open upgraded Almonte Base following 2023 fire

This week, the Lanark County Paramedic Service (LCPS) will officially open its new Almonte base next week, more than three years after its former facility was destroyed by fire.
The new base at 75 Spring Street will hold its grand opening Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, marking the completion of the rebuilt and expanded facility.
According to a release from the Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA), the former Almonte base was destroyed by fire in March 2023. In the interim period, LCPS paramedics have continued providing emergency medical services while operating from temporary accommodations.
Following the fire, the facility was rebuilt and expanded to support the current and future needs of the paramedic service and the continued delivery of emergency medical services across Lanark County, MRHA officials state.
The grand opening will include formal remarks, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the new facility.
Travis Mellema, Chief of the LCPS, will serve as master of ceremonies and expected participants include MRHA President and CEO Brad Harrington, as well as MRHA Allied Boards representative and local elected officials.
The base is located at the corner of State Street and Gomme Street, across from Fairview Manor. Street parking is available nearby, with paid parking also available at the Almonte General Hospital parking lot.
