The Municipality of Mississippi Mills will hold another public information session next month as it advances plans to expand the Gemmill’s Bay Wastewater Pumping Station and Mississippi Mills Wastewater Treatment Plant.

In a release issued on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, the municipality said that both facilities will require additional capacity in the short term to accommodate increased wastewater flows from projected population growth and new development in Almonte.

This will mark the third public information centre since the project was announced, giving residents another opportunity to learn more and provide feedback on the preliminary preferred options for expanding both the pumping station and treatment plant.

The session will take place Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Almonte Old Town Hall, 14 Bridge St.

The projects are being reviewed through a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment. The study is evaluating different design and servicing options while considering technical, environmental, social and economic impacts.

“Public consultation is an integral component of the Class EA process, and we value your input during the planning process,” said municipal officials.

Residents who want to receive future project notices or provide comments can contact Mississippi Mills Engineering Coordinator Luke Harrington at 613-256-2064 or lharrington@mississippimills.ca or Director of Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Bradley Young at bradley.young@cima.ca
