Blakeney Bridge in Mississippi Mills to close from July to December

Lanark County has announced that Blakeney Bridge in Mississippi Mills will be closed until mid-December starting Tuesday, July 2.

The closure is required in order to facilitate its removal, and the installation of the new bridge.

The existing single-lane bridge, which was built in 1915, will be replaced with a two-lane modular bridge with a widened shoulder to accommodate pedestrians. Work includes all new concrete abutments and piers. Looby Construction was contracted by the County to complete the work.

Blakeney Bridge crosses the Mississippi between Almonte and Pakenham. During the replacement work, Five Arches Bridge in Pakenham and Ottawa Street Bridge in Almonte are the nearest alternatives for crossing the river.

Time-lapse video will be available for the public to view the progress of the project and can be accessed at www.lanarkcounty.ca/blakeneybridge. More details about the entire project can be found there as well.
