Remembrance Day will be marked across Canada on Monday, Nov. 11. Every year since 1931, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Canadians gather to stand in honour of all who have fallen.

Here in Mississippi Mills, several ceremonies will be held, including one on Saturday in Clayton. Municipal buildings will also be closed on Monday.

This year’s Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign kicked off on Friday, October 25.

Look for poppy boxes at the Municipal Office, as well as local businesses. New this year – the Legion has three electronic boxes in the community which accept donations via tap. All donations directly support veterans and their families and help ensure Canadians never forget their sacrifices.

There is no impact to the garbage and recycling schedule due to the holiday closure.
