Public meeting scheduled for proposed Franktown Road neighbourhood plan in Carleton Place

Carleton Place residents are invited to attend a public meeting later this month to learn more about the town’s proposed changes to its Official Plan. The meeting will focus on Official Plan Amendment No. 11, a town-initiated amendment that introduces the Franktown Road Neighbourhood Secondary Plan—an important step in shaping how this growing area will evolve in the coming years.
The proposed Secondary Plan for the Franktown Road Neighbourhood is designed to guide future development within the area by setting out land uses, building types and heights, population densities, public parks, open spaces, roads, and servicing infrastructure.
The public meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Town Hall at 175 Bridge Street. According to the town of Carleton Place, the session is being held to offer an opportunity for residents to ask questions and provide feedback on the proposals.
If adopted, the amendment will add a new section (8.2) to the Town’s Official Plan, formally incorporating the Franktown Road Neighbourhood Secondary Plan. Updates would also be made to Schedule A and Schedule B of the Official Plan to reflect the new land use and infrastructure plans found in Schedules A-1 and B-1 of the proposed Secondary Plan.
Those interested in staying informed about this amendment or participating in future discussions are encouraged to submit a written request to the Town’s Development Services Department by emailing planning@carletonplace.ca. Written comments and in-person input at the meeting will become part of the public record.
Copies of the proposed Official Plan Amendment and Secondary Plan are now available for public review during business hours at Town Hall or can be accessed online.
