Lanark OPP charge man with sexual offences against youth

A Scarborough man is facing multiple sexual offence charges following an investigation by the Lanark County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
OPP say officers began investigating allegations in July 2024 related to sexual offences involving a youth that were reported to have occurred in June of that year.
On Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, a 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with accessing, possessing and making available child sexual abuse and exploitation material, as well as two counts of luring a person under 18 by means of telecommunication.
In response to questions from Lanarkist, Provincial Constable Corey Noonan said that concerns were first brought to police by a parent.
He said the suspect was known to the victim. “The communications were personal through devices and not apps,” Noonan confirmed.
He said that given the age of the victim, further information like the exact location of where they’re from cannot be disclosed.
The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
Police say the accused will not be named in order to protect the identity of the victim.
