Richardson Side Road to close next month for intersection improvements

Richardson Side Road will be temporarily closed next month while Lanark County carries out roadway improvements at the intersection with Drummond Concession 2 (County Road 10), according to a release from the Town of Carleton Place.

Lanark County has contracted Crains’ Construction Ltd. to complete the work, which will take place from Oct. 5 to 16, 2026. Throughout the duration of the project, vehicle access on Richardson Side Road will be restricted for residents ans motorist.

“These improvements are being undertaken to enhance safety and maintain the county’s transportation infrastructure for residents and road users,” said Sam Poole, public works manager. “We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this temporary closure and apologize for any inconvenience while this important work is completed.”

For traffic local to Richardson Side Road, a signed detour route will be in place for the duration of the closure using Drummond Concession 1 and Ebert Road. Motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour signs and allow additional time for their trips.

The county expects traffic impacts on Drummond Concession 2 to be only temporary.
