Mississippi Mills begins curbside Christmas tree collection Jan. 6

Residents of Mississippi Mills will have two weeks in January to set out their natural Christmas trees for curbside pickup as the municipality begins its annual post-holiday collection program.
According to a release from the municipality of Mississippi Mills, curbside Christmas tree collection will start January 6, 2026, with residents required to place trees outside at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on their scheduled collection day. The municipality urged that trees set out outside the designated areas or dates will not be collected.
Collection will take place on the west side of Almonte — where Wednesday garbage collection is normally scheduled — on Jan. 6 and Jan. 13.
Pickup in the hamlets and villages of Appleton, Blakeney, Clayton and Pakenham, as well as several nearby subdivisions, is scheduled for Jan. 7 and Jan. 14. Those subdivisions include Pakenham Golf Course, Oakland Crescent, Fairway Crescent, Julie Anne Crescent, Spruce Crescent, Senator and Heather Crescent, according to the release.
The east side of Almonte, which follows Friday garbage collection, along with the Whitetail Ridge and Greystone or Stonehome Crescent subdivisions, will be collected on Jan. 8 and Jan. 15.
The municipality says residents outside the listed collection zones or dates should not expect curbside pickup.
Residents may also drop off Christmas trees at the Pakenham Depot on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m at no charge, or at the Beckwith Transfer Station in Carleton Place during regular operating hours, where fees may apply.
