Collision leads to impaired driving charge in Beckwith Township

A collision in Beckwith Township led to a Ottawa resident being charged with impaired driving over the weekend.
Lanark OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Scotch Corners Road on Sunday, Nov. 3 at around 6 p.m. Police say a car left the roadway on a curve.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported for the driver or passenger.
However, officers used an approved roadside screening device to test the driver for impaired driving; he was later transported to the local detachment for further testing.
As a result, Ryan McQuillan, 24, from Ottawa, was charged with operation while impaired. This charge has not been proven in court. He was release from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Dec. 9.
His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
